Asking residents for a review can be awkward.
Especially if you’re asking them in person and you’re not sure what they’re going to say.
This email should be sent after a resident renews their lease at your community.
Keep in mind, the resident is finding some type of value in your community – that’s why they’re renewing. Which makes it the perfect time for a review.
Just take the email script below and customize it to your liking. One thing to notice is how I use the word “You” multiple times in the email. This makes it about them and not you.
Everything in parenthesis should be customized for your community. I used Google My Business for the review site, but it’s up to you where you want them to post their review.

Hey (Resident Name),
I just noticed that you renewed your lease. Thrilled that you’re finding value at (community)!
If it’s not too much trouble, I have a quick request: could you please leave a positive review on Google. Here’s a link:

Even a sentence or two would be hugely appreciated. If it helps us get more awesome residents like you, it will help us make the community even better for you 🙂
Thanks, and if there’s anything at all that I can do to help you, don’t hesitate to let me know.

This resident review strategy will help you build a solid, positive reputation for your community. That means – more leads … more tours …. more leases …. more satisfied residents. Plus, it’s an easy one to execute.
